Save Project: The Chastity Belt Experiment

Saving Project:

The Chastity Belt Experiment

Our saving project has been a bit different than the other ones. To this project (and we wish it is permited by the rules) we created the  Chastity Belt Experiment, our group saving project, that consist in this:
We all did the same things to save and we were auto-prohibited to ourselves to buy some kind of things and do things to waste money. For example, we stopped buying unnecesary food such us cookies or freezy drinks. This is the reason why we called it the "Chastity Belt ", because we surpressed our cravings during a week. At the end, we compared it with the graphic of the first week and later we made another comparative graphic.
At the first, our graphic looked like this, with the average:
Next, we started to reduce, using this rules:

  • Don't take any bath, just have showers to save Water.
  • To talk with somebody, use the fixed telephone to save Mobile Phone.
  • Change the bulbs, using just low-energy bulbs to save Light.
  • Don't buy any new clothes unless they are totally necessary, to save Clothes.
  • Stop buying unnecessary food (cravings) such as freezy drinks or sweets, to save Food.
  • Totally prohibited go to have diner at the restaurants or go to do the leisure activities, unless the weekend and you only can waste less than 10€, to save Free Time.
  • Don't buy any insignificant objects such as videogames or books, to save Unnecessary Expenses.

As you can see, we have been very strict with this but at the end we saved a lot of money. As we can see in this graphic, the expenses has been reduced:

In all the categories, we have saved money, even if It's in different proportions. Now we are going to compare the two graphics:

The bigger differences are in Unnecessary Expenses, probably because I stopped going to eat to the restaurants, and the Food has been reduced considerally because María has a small brother and the kids eat a lot of sweets
There is a very little difference in Mobile Phones, because the half of us use phone rates.
And Clothes is very similar to the other because we don't buy clothes every week, unless Paula or Luis, that they play sports and they usually need to buy new sports clothes.

So, at the end, with the comparative graphic, we saved aproximately 160€ in a week. This is a lot of money, that becomes in 640€ in a month, that is the salary of a normal worker

Conclusion of the Chastity Belt Experiment: We can save more than 600€ in a month.
